Yivli, which literally means fluted or grooved in Turkish, name is referred to grooves available on the structure. This mosque is able to be seen in many sides of Antalya therefore it takes a place almost in all pictures of Antalya city.
When the structure was an old Byzantine church it was converted to a mosque with an additional minaret during the reign of Seljukian Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat. Mosque was also used as the Archaeological museum of Antalya untill 1972.
It was built on a square stone base. The upper minaret section is made of brick and decorated like a mosaic with square shaped small blue stones. The height of minaret is 45 m and you need to climb 92 steps up to reach the balcony of minaret.
