Altintepe
Located 15 km away from city center on the direction of Erzincan – Erzurum
highway. It is one of the most intact Urartu towns which survived
untill present day from past. There are many archeological artifacts were
revealed after the excavations made in 1959 . A temple , palace complex , tombs, houses were found
in the town.
Among the works found in 8
century B.C are ivory and metal goods, helmets and shields , ceramics and
murals can be counted.
Many important antiques with highest value now exhibited in Ankara Anatolian
civilizations museum.
The excavations which is

supports of local governors still
continue in the site.
