Fatih Mosque

Fatih Mosque, built by Sultan Mehmed the conquerer in Fatih district. There was an apostle church in the Byzantine period nearby the Fatih mosque. It is supposed that Fatih mosque was built taking advantage o the ruins of this church. According to the Arabic inscription found on either side of the door, construction of Fatih mosque started in 1467 and  was completed in 1470.
