Belgrad Forest
Belgrade Forest, located on the European side of Istanbul in the eastern end of Catalca Peninsula, is a naturally formed forest.
The water resources of Belgrad forest was the most important drinking water source during the Byzantine and Ottoman empire periods yet the amount of water today is insufficient for the cosmopolite Istanbul city so it is only used for recreational aims in the area.
It is not a touristy place and mostly preferred by locals especially early in the mornings and weekends for hiking and running. Unless you have a car that will be very difficult to get there by public transports.
