Selime

Selime  is a town  established at the end of Ihlara valley within in a distance of 28 kilometers to Aksaray .

Hewn and carved churches which are found in Ihlara , Yaprakhisar ,  Belisirma and guzelyurt districts also seen in Selime district.

Cathedral of Selime is the most important church among all in the area. Cathedral located in a very high hills and built into carved rocks. There are columns lined in sequence seperating the cathedral in 3 naves are creates a nice sample for  Basilica planned structures.

In the building between the ceiling and the arches scension oj Jesus christ , Annunciation, Nativity, Koimesis , escape to Egypt are the  remarkable scenes which are depicted in the Selime Cathedral. The frescoes dates back to 8th to 10th century.

The fairy chimneys which can not be seen in the other parts of Ihlara valley can be seen in Selime district.
