Turkey is located between Western Asia (the Anatolian peninsula) and Southeastern Europe (the Balkans). Two straits separate these two continents: the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus. This geography puts Turkey at the meeting point of three important regions: the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Middle East.
Turkey is surrounded by the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. There is an inner sea, the Marmara, on the north western part of the country
