Thyateira
Thyateira is the name of
the Akhisar town in ancient times. It is one of the most important settlements
of Lydia and Pergamon Kingdom. It was
called as Thyateira during the Roman empire period untill the Byzantine period.
It is one of the first seven churches of Christianity
founded by St. Paul in western Anatolia .
A portion of the remains of the thateira city today can be seen in Tepe
Mezari in the city center of Akhisar.
