Medal Day of Kahramanmaras

 Due to the position  and outstanding achievements in the National struggle "Maras"  was awarded by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on April 5, 1925  with a  red stripe "Independence Medal".

This event is celebrated with ceremonies held every  each year in  "April 5 ". 

City’s name changed to Kahramanmaras by the National Assembly of Turkey on February 7, 1975 because of the efforts and national struggle of the city therefore every February 7 is also celebrated with ceremonies in the town.
