Fethiye Mosque

It was first built as a church in the late 13th century by Michael Tarchaneiotes who was one of the esteemed person of Byzantine empire and was known as Church of Theokotos Pammakaristos. After the conquest of Istanbul it was started to be used as an orthodox patriarchate untill 1601. To the memory of  victories in Georgia and Azerbaijan it was converted to a mosque with renovations and additional structures and called as Fethiye camii ( mosque).

 
 
 
 

Where is Fethiye Mosque in Istanbul ?

It is located in the borders of city walls in Carsamba Street of Fatih district and has a birdview look to golden horn. It is in a 15 minutes walking distance to Chora church a must place to see in Istanbul.
