Rumeli hisar
Rumeli hisari ( rumeli
fortress )located in bogazici district of Sariyer province in Istanbul.
Rumeli hisari was built and settled just right across the Anadolu
hisari by Sultan Fatih the
conquerer before conquest of the Istanbul city to prevent attacks .
Rumeli Hisarı covers a 70 acres land situated in the
narrowest and strong streaming point (600 m) of Istanbul strait. Fortress was
completed in such a short time of 90 days .3 great towers of the structure have
the biggest castle bastions of the world.
3 generals of Sultan mehmet
was responsible from each towers building so when the towers completed their
names given to these towers.
Rumeli hisari ( rumeli
fortress ) were damaged deeply by the earthquake occured in 1509 and fires
occured in years also demolished the wooden structures in the castle. fortress
was completely repaired in 1789 by Sultan
selim the third and renovated in 1953 by the Turkish president .

tl , 2 euros.

Rumeli hisari today used as an
open air museum and open air concert hall and theater. Cannons , cannon balls and huge chains used
during the Istanbul siege are exhibited
in the castle.
Rumeli hisari was used to be
the most prestigious music concert place in Turkey as the famous singers were
singing in there however concerts ceased by the government not to spoil the
historical structure.
