 Kayakoy ( the gost town) will be welcoming you after a 5km drive from hisaronu with deserted  stone  houses used by greeks in past. 
 Anatolian greeks were very good farmers and agriculturalists so they built their houses over a slope to use the cultivable lands. Population of the village was almost 25 k people in 1922 yet the inhabitants of the village immigrated to Greece after the population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Turkish People from western thrace was immigrated and settled this village. Turkish people  preferred to live and built houses on plains. Currently population of the area is around 2 k people.

Most of the Turkish and muslim population who was settled here immigrated to another places nevertheless Greeks immigrated to Greece never forget their village and to keep their memories live forever named their new settlemens as neo makri( new fethiye).

Today stone houses , 14 chapels 3  churches  with frescos  , cisterns are worth to see.

Restaurants offering  barbecued services and pancakes made by locals with a wonderfull view .

If you want to spend a night after a joyfull dinner with friends many small cozy and comfortable pensions are available to make you feel at home.

Gemiler island  and Afkule monastery are the another important  places with cultural and natural attractions around kayakoy village.

how to go ghost town?
there are regular minibuses operate from fethiye to kayakoy every 30 minutes untill 5 p.m in winters and 11p.m in summers. Minibus station in fethiye is just near the mosque in the city centre can be easily found.

The population of Kayakoy at the time of the population exchange was about 2,000. They lived in about 500 houses, most of which remain as ruins.
