Bodrum > What to do >yalikavak
You can mostly see the  symbol of Bodrum the wind mills in  Yalikavak owing to strong winds occuring in district. One of these wind mills is very close to shore gives you a chance to observe it and see how a wind mill is working.

Many lovely bays with wide and long beaches are available in the yalikavak district. I can recommend you to go one of these bays especially early in the morning before getting crowded and enjoy the swimming in crsytal water with a peacefull landscape.

After swimming excersise breakfast can be taken in one of the restaurants lined up on the dock . You will be amazed by the variety of the food served to you for breakfast  among these variety  you mus definetely try the jam made by locals.

Yalikavak  before starting the grow in tourism was  a small village especially popular with sponge divers and sponge sellers .

Only disadvantage of the yalikavak district is the distance between the bodrum city center , distance between yalikavak and bodrum is 18 km however regular  minibuses are available untill midnight.

Yalikavak has a lot of charm, and if you're visiting the Bodrum Peninsula, you should hop on a dolmus and take a day trip there. The best day to go is on a Thursday, when they hold their weekly Market/Pazar - which is great to wander around. There's a round at the back of the Pazar that leads up to the sparsely populated village of Sandima. It's not a very strenous hike to visit it.
