Basilica with Mosaics
A basilica ruin which dates
back to Early Christian Period to 6th century located
only 200 m. Away from Oylum Tumulus.
Basilica built in a long
rectangular plan with local black coloured bazalt stones.
As a result of excavations , 2
incsriptions , many coins and column bases belonging the Roman
period and Middle age were found.
A mosaic
which covers a 800 m2 area reflects
the art of Early christian period with the composition of Red, brown,
white, gray, orange, black and colored stones and plant (leaf), Maltese Crosses
and various geometric patterns. (intersecting circles, diamond, square and
zigzag).
