Derinkuyu

Derinkuyu underground city is located 29 km away from Nevsehir, by the highway between Nevsehir- Nigde. Depth of Derinkuyu Underground City's approximately 85 m. Same as Kaymakli underground city, Derinkuyu is  also composed of sections (stables, cellars, dining hall, the church, winery, etc) where thousands of people can live in once and meet all their needs. The complex has 8 floors and unlike Kaymakli underground city, there is a missioner school, baptism pool, place of confession and a well exist in Derinkuyu.

Missioner school can be visited in the 2nd floor has a large area which also includes study rooms. After the 3rd and 4th floors of the city,  you will directly walk down to the in-depth via stairs and reach to the cross-shaped church. The 55 m long ventilation well which also sometimes used as a well an interesting structure to see.

Entrance fee of Derinkuyu underground city is 15 Tl per person and it is recommended not to wear jackets and coats while the temperatures are quiet warm inside and higher than outside. If you are also afraid of closed areas or have claustrophobia do not visit Derinkuyu. The narrow and short passages are also important obstacles to be considered before entering especially by the overweighted people.

Derinkuyu is opened for visitors, everyday from 08:00 a.m until 05:00 p.m
