Belly dancing is one of the world's oldest known dance which made in many different geographic regions in various forms accordance with specifications of the regions.
Belly dance is called as Raks Sharki in Egypt, Dance du ventre in France, Cifte Telli in Greece and Oriental dance in Middle east countries.There are a few main characteristsic of this dance which differ it from others.
Belly dance traditionally done barefoot and aim in dancing barefoot is not to cease the contact of dancers with the soil( the mother of earth).
Belly dance is designed according to the characteristics of the female body. Abdominal muscles, hip movements, chest movements best suited woman's body. A tight and solid dance with bare feet touching the soil.
Snakes, swords, torches,candles, veil, cane or stick-like materials are often used in dance. In general, each one of them has a meaning and symbolize the protection of people.
Belly dancing requires a professional training and hard work as it is a solo dance and only performed by one person. It is expected from a solo dancer, belly dancer, to make all the figures perfectly. Belly dancing, throughout the dance, needs deep concentration and attention.
